Who is responsible
Maps Of The Mind Ltd. (address above) is the controller for personal data processed on this website. For any privacy question or request, email john@mapsofthemind.com.
What we collect and why
- Account: your email address, whether you have full access, and when you signed up. We use it to sign you in with a one-time link and to give you access to what you paid for (contract).
- Ratings and favourites you save, linked to your account (contract).
- Purchases: payments are handled by Stripe. We never see your card details. We keep a record of the purchase for as long as tax law requires (contract, legal obligation).
- Technical data: when you visit, the server processes your IP address and browser details to deliver the site and protect it against abuse, for example by limiting sign-in attempts (legitimate interest). These are not used to track you.
Cookies and local storage
We set a single cookie, only when you sign in, to keep you signed in for up to 90 days. It is strictly necessary, so we don't ask for consent. Your browser also remembers small interface preferences (such as whether you've seen a hint) in local storage. There is no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Fonts are served from our own server.
Embedded players
When you open a playlist or a video, the player is loaded from the respective platform. Your browser then connects to that provider, which receives your IP address and may set its own cookies. If you don't open a player, no connection is made. See their privacy policies:
Service providers
- Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany): hosting
- Resend (USA): delivery of sign-in emails
- Stripe (Ireland/USA): payment processing
They process data only on our behalf or, in Stripe's case, also under their own responsibility for payment and fraud checks. Transfers to the USA rely on standard contractual clauses or the UK/EU–US data frameworks.
How long we keep data
Account data, ratings and favourites are kept until you ask us to delete your account. Purchase records are kept for six years for tax purposes.
Your rights
You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, restrict or object to its processing, and receive it in a portable format. Just email us. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or the data protection authority in your country.
